More Reviews >About Sheath Cleaner
The natural and gentle formulation of our Sheath Cleaner loosens smegma and dirt quickly for fast and easy removal. After cleaning, it rinses off easily, reduces odours and won’t irritate even the most sensitive skin.
At least every six months, a horse’s sheath needs to be cleaned of built up smegma and dirt. Smegma is simply a collection of dirt and bodily excretions that build up inside the sheath. Healthy microorganisms live inside the horse’s sheath, so you do not want to use an antibacterial soap for cleaning. Chestfields Sheath Cleaner safely removes unwanted bacteria and dirt, whilst maintaining the delicate PH balance of this sensitive area and will not affect any natural protective bacteria.
Spray on a liberal amount or apply with a cloth or sponge. Allow a few minutes to soften and loosen smegma then rinse thoroughly with warm, clean water.
Product Reviews
~ “I have to admit it’s a job I do put off, but it was a much easier operation using your product. It was easy to spray on and it worked quickly. The horses were not bothered at all and I certainly won’t be leaving it as long before getting round to cleaning their sheaths again!
We were very impressed at how easy and effective your products were to use – even the instructions are simple to follow – and it was reassuring that they were made from natural products.” – Smart Rider UK 6/1/11
~ “I lent a lady at my yard the Chestfields Sheath Cleaner after her vet advised her not to use any overly concentrated products on her gelding. She had tried all the other products they usually recommend, but they all seemed to upset the delicate PH balance. She’s used Chestfields Sheath cleaner twice now and is delighted with the results, I think it’s something she will stick to now for regular maintenance !” – June Riley 28/6/10
